James S. Kirk & Co. Soap Makers “Magnolia” Victorian Trade Card Advertising

This is a very pretty Victorian trade card for Jas. S. Kirk & Co. Soap Makers of Chicago, Illinois. It is titled “Magnolia” and has a boy offering the beautiful blossom of a saucer magnolia to a lady. It is 5″ by 3 & 1/4″ and in excellent undamaged condition. There is no information on the back. It was made in the Victorian period between 1890 and 1899.

This is an early Victorian trade card when they were handed out as complimentary gifts without advertising on them. People then exchanged them as greeting cards. This one has a bouquet on the left with a scene of people at a lake. There is no information on the back. It is 4 & 5/8″ by 2 & 5/8″ in very nice undamaged condition.
